Over the years I have talked with a lot of people who try and justify their sexual activities as just one of many possible lifestyles God accepts. What they fail to realize is that these lifestyles are not alternatives, but the norm. What they fail to grasp is that God is the author of the most radical alternative lifestyle anyone can imagine. Think of it this way, when left to our own devices, every single one of us, Christian and non-Christian alike, experiments with how we think the world should be formed. We think we can do a better job than God in making the world a better place; made in our image. We all choose to fashion our lifestyles around our desires and our feelings and our wants.
Truth is, every lifestyle we chose for ourselves is just the status quo. There is no lifestyle choice we can come up with that is a real alternative. The only true alternative lifestyle is the one God authors in us. God created a world in which we have the freedom to choose between rebellion and obedience. It is true that by design and permission we can create our world and chose to live our lives in any way we want. But, God wants us to live out our days experimenting with the most radical and passionate alternative lifestyle choice we can imagine; obedience!
When it comes to alternative lifestyles, God is the only one with a different idea.
