A Divine Identity – Part 1

Experience tells me that more people are leaving the established church and everyone is working hard to understand the trend. Almost half of our growth at Reunion Church has been from people who walked away from Church, but now have come back because in our Reunion Family they have found something they longed to experience.

There are endless books and resources for church leaders that tell us all about “mission,” :growth strategies,” and “purpose.” None of these resources will accomplish their goal until we first understand our past failures and second established a clear and compelling Divine identity for the local church. For the Reunion Family, our identity is summarized in the following statement.

Reunion is a diverse group of people, united by the cross of Christ for the purpose of enjoying God and growing as a Family.

This statement is visually captured in this bit of artwork I designed…

So in the next few articles, allow me to unpack each of the key words in this statement; Diverse, United, Enjoying, Growing, that serves to define our Divine identity.
