Getting stronger from life's setbacks seems so backwards. And in today's circles you would be considered a victim and be allowed to feel sorry for yourself. But I believe we are called to a higher standard in Jesus Christ! Paul says in II Corinthians 1 that they were burdened beyond measure, above strength, so that they despaired even of life and chapter 4 talks about being hard pressed on every side, yet not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed--always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. It seems the Lord wants us to look to Him for our strength and realize that these burdens are bringing us to a higher understanding of His plan for our spiritual lives.
