Selling more than 7 million copies and spending 49 weeks on the NY Times best seller list, The Shack has been a stellar success for William (Paul) Young. The book has generated its fair share of controversy, yet there can be no doubt that Paul’s book has struck a chord with millions of people. The following is the 1st part of 3 ten minute clips that reflect the bulk of my phone conversation with Paul. Paul offers practical insight concerning some very controversial issues of social change, the Gospel and culture. There are even a few answers that may shock you!

The moment we turn the New Testament church into a model to reproduce, we miss out on the historical beauty of what God accomplished by the power of His Spirit.

I married my wife Suzanne in May 1996. I love her and treasure her as the best friend and helpmate I can imagine. We have 3 wonderful boys. I am finishing my Doctoral dissertation on developing self-replicating teams for church planting and working for Logos Bible Software. God is awesome!

We do communion different ways on different occasions (Sundays is the cup and juice and other times it is a meal). I notice of late a lot of bloggers expressing some concern about the method (“meal” vs. “snack”), but seldom [...]

Last week I shared my Myers-Briggs personality type (aka Golden DISC Personify Profile) as ENFZ. Looking inside those results, my leadership style is described as a Communicator & Caring Coach. I think the following customized report is actually a pretty fair description of who I am and what I try to be… It is believed [...]

- Classic Me: The Great Pretenders
One phrase that captures the heart of so much of the Church today is “The Great Pretenders”. We have in many ways become a fellowship of false emotions. All too often we attend church in the mask of happiness and perfect satisfaction. We fear that if we do not put on the bright and shining [...]

Regarding the interview with Paul Young author of “The Shack.” I am sorry it took me so long to get to this, I listened to it twice with too much interuptions, so I came home today and put my headsets on and sheeewwwed everyone out so I could listen ;O)))
First, Joe, you are an EXCELLENT interviewer! I found it informative and enlightening. It was NOT at all what I was expecting! I don’t know why, but I really thought you were going to ask him questions about his book!?! I was interested in hearing about how he came up with the characters…his insight into the development of this personal revelation. If he was planning to write a sequel…you know. ;o)) I thought your theological discussion was great though. ;O)
Glad you dug it Pam.
Sorry I did not get into questions about the book for you. There are a lot of interviews like that on YouTube you can find. I wanted to offer something a little different.
Don’t get me wrong………..I enjoyed the interview. It just wasn’t what I was expecting, and I don’t know why I thought you were doing that kind of interview because you didn’t read the book! lololol ;o))))
