I am never always amazed at how gullible naive trusting people are–or should I say choose to be? The Bible warns the church not to follow after bad leadership. Specifically, we must always be on the lookout for leaders who tell us what we want to hear the way we want to hear it–leadership that “tickles the ear.” I think this warning is illustrated will in American politics.
Before I go any farther, let me say that I hope we all share a basic love for the health of our world. I would like to have a “greener” & cleaner environment with an economy that is less dependent on fuel sources like oil that pollute our air and water. Can we agree together on that? It is a wonderful goal, but how do we accomplish it? Clearly the fields of Environmental Ethics & Science have a long way to go… but the first step to getting results is electing good politicians (which I admit seems like an obvious oxymoron).
Do you think leadership that “tickles the ear” is a problem in politics? Some people think it is.

No President, or human being, can deliver on all the promises Obama has made, yet people want to believe.. so they do. Apparently Christians are not the only ones who should watch out for smooth-talking ear-tickling salesmen who are willing to say anything to get power.
So let’s look at just one example from current events. Chevrolet, now sold by Barack Obama, tells us they will soon build a car called the Chevy Volt that can get well over 100 miles on just a single gallon of gas. Yeah! The wold is saved! Right?

One of these guys makes a living selling cars.
This new Chevy car will harness the “clean” power of electricity to achieve this planet-saving miracle and rid the world of the evil-poisonous gas CO2, (some people don’t know that without CO2 our planet will die). But did you ever stop to ask, “from where will the electricity to run these cars come?” Like the title of the post says, Schoolhouse Rock can teach you, me and even Barack Obama a thing or two.

I understand that some people watching this video will immediately believe that Obama himself is the “Superhero” portrayed by Schoolhouse Rock—a super-man capable of turning the crank to give the world pure clean power. But for those of us limited to reality in America, this video teaches us that Chevy’s clean “electric” car will be powered by fossil fuels like coal (which provides 50% of the power used in this country). Some people don’t want to hear it, and sadly others are not educated to properly understand it; but, in the short term, electric cars will create more pollution than they save. Once people plug their cars into the outlet to “save the environment”, the coal-powered plants will kick in to high-gear and put out higher emissions than the cars.
I know, some will respond that Obama can fix that problem too. He will build more power plants from “clean” fuels. Well, I am sure in due time Obama will find a way to build a power source that transcends the laws of thermodynamics (practically speaking, I wish he would consider Nuclear power), but until that day people should keep in mind the real cost of Obama’s plans.
Obama will keep feeding the monster of our national debt into the Trillions of dollars… just like Schoolhouse Rock warned us.

Someday after we all have “free” healthcare and our cars run on pixie dust and emit pure oxygen (which would kill us) the bill will come due for every American. I fear the price will be paid in extreme economic hardship and human suffering. Until that day comes, some people will be content to choose leaders who tell then what they want to hear, “you can have a free ride and only the other guy will pay.” Really? Is that even possible?

You sure can learn a lot from Schoolhouse Rock.
Democrat? Republican? Independent? The choice is up to each of us (sometimes I think they are all the same). My concern is far more important than politics and what kind of car people drive. My real concern is about leadership. When the time comes, don’t be afraid to make a hard choice and pick your leaders wisely!

i admire Barack Obama because he is very charismatic and he is liberal minded.
Barack Obama for me is the most charismatic president to be ever elected. He also makes great decisions, for example in the ecomomic stimulus package to counter the effects of recession.
Barack Obama is not only a charismatic president but he is a very intelligent and smart person too. I congratulate him for winning a Nobel Peace Prize .
“`
Charisma and a Peace Prize don’t count for substance and intelligence set on the wrong goal is wasted.
