The schizophrenic US Stock Market is a daily illustration of the cultural-psychosis facing the West. I outlined my thoughts on this in my previous post, “The Poverty of Soul and the unCivilization of the West.” In short, I see a Marxist philosophy (Dialectic Materialism) trending toward the dominant worldview in the West.  The best, and only, hope for extracting society from this materialistic morass is to embrace a worldview that enables us to rise above our own mortality.

In contradistinction to the psychologically-damning Marxist worldview, society must embrace an emotionally-healing view of Humanity created in the image of God.  This sets the stage for seeing our value, not in personal achievement or material possessions, but in a transcendent “God-esteem.”  That is, we must see our value as coming from an eternally unchanging triune-God of infinite worth who is not diminished with the collapse of the Stock Market.  Once our value is rooted in the eternal, we can see life with a new moral perspective that promotes a personal conscience that does not justify evil in the name of ideology.

This is my hope, that we can aspire to this new worldview and begin to heal the cultural-psychosis that so greatly disturbs the West.
